The Great Energy team recently replaced an old emergency standby generator set with this new CAT C13 powered 400kva generator set.


The install included a standalone fuel supply tank with stainless lines and valves, fuel polishing cabinet with Donaldson Blue series filter cartridges and pump system along with a range of other upgrades specified by the customer.


Great Energy also provided a hire generator as emergency backup for the duration of the remove and install process to ensure no loss of power on site

Great Energy diesel fitters recently completed a mid-life rebuild and rear engine main seal repair for one of our valued customers. This was one of three Cummins K50 – 1250kVA generators receiving scheduled mid-life engine repairs. This work was completed in situ at a remote location with a maximum allowed turnaround time of 7 days per generator, from shut down to recommissioned.

Assisting an interstate customer with some onsite testing, diagnostics and repairs on one of their generators in a remote location. We were able to repair an intermittent fault and made some improvements to the programming and operation of their generator controller. Being able to take our load bank to site was invaluable, ensuring correct operation of the machine and proving the effectiveness of the repairs before leaving site.

Great Energy would like to introduce you to our newest apprentice, Blake Gunton. Blake is 15 years old and came to us from Cairns High School in March of this year. He is currently undertaking a School Based Apprenticeship to become a Heavy Equipment Fitter. This means that as a part of his Apprenticeship, he comes to work alongside our experienced tradesmen two days a week. Next year Blake will become a full-time apprentice on a 4 year apprenticeship. Blake’s main reason for choosing this apprenticeship was that he likes working with his hands, and fixing engines. He has said that he has found Great Energy to be a nice caring company who has helped him to learn a lot. Great Energy is proud to support young apprentices like Blake gain valuable skills in a niche market that is Power Generation equipment, and believes it to be an important step to shape the industry for the better, by helping to influence not only the availability of skilled workers, but also the quality of work that they put out. Well Done Blake, you’re doing a great job!

Great Energy are proud to announce that we have won the contract to build and operate a power station to supply power to the Butcherbird mine site in Western Australia. In fact, not only have we won the contract, but are already providing power to the Butcherbird mine site as of this month (March 2021). Great Energy will be supplying 100% of the mine site energy requirements with our BOO (Build, own and operate), power station using 4 x 500kva Scania diesel generators, we will also be responsible for the maintenance, ensuring maximum up-time for the Butcherbird project. This has also allowed Great Energy to create additional jobs in WA, as we employ a new Power Station Electrician, an Electrical Engineer, as well as a number of other subcontractors. Our Managing Director, Gavin Great, said that “Great Energy is excited to be providing power to the remote Western Australia’s Butcherbird Manganese Project, and looks forward to developing an ongoing relationship with Element 25 to ensure all long-term needs and expectations are not only met, but exceeded”.
